A tabletop gaming weekend in North Wales

Bastion is a 4 day tabletop meetup/convention in North Wales where we play games, meet other gamers and make new friends.

In 2027, Bastion returns to the Conwy YHA for four days of board games, miniatures, CCGs and RPGs. Just come and play games, or book a bunk and stay all weekend.

Got questions?

  • When is Bastion open?

We have the venue booked from Wednesday 6pm until Sunday 6pm. Games & Bunk ticket holders can stay for the full event. Just the Games ticket holders can attend from 8am to midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and until 6pm on Sunday.

  • Who can come to Bastion?

Anyone! Whether you're just getting started with board games or have been playing for years. Friends and family are welcome; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. We encourage everyone to mix around, play with new people, and make sure nobody is left out.

  • Will there be food and drink available?

Food and drink are not provided by the venue, but Conwy is a 10-minute walk away and has plenty of pubs and restaurants. Takeaways deliver to the venue, and shared kitchen facilities are available if you would like to prepare your own food.

  • Is Bastion just for board games?

Bastion is a tabletop event. Alongside board games, you are welcome to set up miniatures games, play CCGs, or run an RPG.

  • Will there be a games library? Should I bring my own games?

Attendees and hosts bring the games, so there will be hundreds available to play and you're encouraged to bring your own too. Games placed on the storage tables are considered available for attendees to use; please label them, return them to their owner's section, and treat borrowed games with extra care.

  • Can I just book one night?

No, sorry. You're welcome to attend for only some of the nights, but bunk tickets cover the full weekend so that beds remain available for weekend bookings.

  • How are rooms organised? Can I share a room with my family/friends?

Individual tickets are for a bunk in a shared room of up to four people. Tickets bought together can usually be allocated to the same room. If you've booked separately or have room-sharing or accessibility requirements, contact [email protected] and we'll do our best to help.

  • How should I behave?

Please respect other people, their games, and their property; help anyone who looks left out; keep the event family-safe; clean up after yourself; and be a good board-game citizen. We reserve the right to cancel a booking during the event if these rules are broken.

  • Is there parking at the venue?

Parking around the venue is limited. If possible, please use public transport, carpool, or park in the nearby on-road and pay-and-display areas, leaving YHA parking for people with access requirements.

  • Who is running Bastion? Why?

Bastion is run by Aaron Lawn, Dewi Clough, Tom Usher, and Denise Williams-Usher. We play lots of games with friends in North Wales, and Bastion is our way of playing more, meeting new people, and having a good time.
